Bettys Beach Whitsundays Queensland Australia
On the picturesque Whitsunday Island, there’s a little slice of heaven called Bettys Beach Whitsundays… maybe you’ve heard of it? Maybe not. If you have heard of it, I’m sure it’s on the list of your places to visit – but this is your sign to bump it up to number one and book a trip with Prosail to witness it for yourself.
If you haven’t heard of it, this is your sign to book a trip to witness it for yourself.
We rate Bettys Beach as one of the best beaches in the Whitsundays, but it is a hidden little cove tucked neatly away at the northernmost point of Whitehaven Beach that most people never see. If you didn’t know about it, you would just think Whitehaven just stopped where the rocks were. But there’s always more than meets the eye in this tropical piece of Queensland paradise, and there’s that’s where this stunning little beach boasts a secluded section of silica sand and turquoise waters amongst the volcanic rocks.
There are two access points to Bettys, one over the rocks and one around the back via the little tidal inlet – both give you epic views of the cove. A nice escape from the crowds, this is arguably one of my favourite spots in Airlie Beach and Whitsunday Islands to lay down and soak up the sun rays reading a book, or take the opportunity to give yourself a facial with the natural exfoliant silica sand.

Why Locals Try To Keep Bettys Beach Whitsundays Secret
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, there is absolutely nothing like those first few steps onto Whitehaven Beach.
Even as a guide, I will never get tired of taking people here and seeing the awe wash over their faces as they realise that Whitehaven is even more stunning and special than the pictures made it out to be. (We all know how devo it is when it’s the opposite).
Bettys Beach Whitsundays is a true little slice of paradise and 100% worth the photo stop. Australia’s Instagram page actually reposted one of my photos of it in a ‘top 10 beaches in Australia’ post – so if it’s good enough for them I think it’s safe to say you’ll be impressed.
The beach used to be somewhat of a local secret, no one really knows why or who it was named after, but it was likely one of the early white settlers and has been passed down over the decades. It’s now probably the local region’s worst kept secret, but to be honest I could never resist telling my passengers about it anyway. It’s just too good not to be appreciated, you know?
We want our passengers to experience the best beaches Airlie Beach and Whitsundays has to offer.
We don’t know who you are or were Betty, but we thank you for sharing this little slice of paradise with us. We reckon you must have been pretty great.

Tours That Visit This Stunning Beach
Not all tours go to the north end of Whitehaven so make sure you do your research before you book anything – a lot of tours offer the south end and the walk up to Hill Inlet lookout instead – which won’t give you an option to discover Bettys Beach Whitsundays. Another added benefit of experiencing a longer trip with Prosail, is that we always visit the northern end – it’s also where the famous sheoak ‘Instagram tree’ is, if that’s what you’re into.
Our shorter tour on Hammer gives you ample time at the north end of Whitehaven to explore around, usually around 2 hours, with an hour to do the bushwalk up to the inlet. On our longer 4 day 3 night tours we will often visit both ends of Whitehaven so you have plenty of time to soak it up for all it’s worth.
If you have the time, there’s nothing like seeing the tropical Islands on a liveaboard tour with Prosail. Not only do you get to sit back and relax while our crew does essentially everything for you, but it’s not rushed.
You have more time to soak up the sun on Whitehaven.
More time to discover the underwater oasis of the Great Barrier Reef and search for Nemo, or nail that turtle photobomb.
Longer at the top of your hike to sit down, catch your breath and take in the view.
Time to relax on deck and take in your surroundings as we ferry you from one destination to the other.
And time to really appreciate the epic adventure of sailing, being propelled by nothing but the wind.
From the hidden gem that’s affectionately known as Bettys Beach Hill Inlet in the island region to snorkelling, hiking and sailing, let us show you why our home is a must-see destination of Australia – and Prosail are the ones to take you there.
